There's a moment at almost every in-home session where a kid who couldn't get away from the camera fast enough jumps in with mom or dad and starts giggling. That moment doesn't happen at a park with a stranger holding a camera. It happens at home.
Your kids are more themselves AT HOME.
Children read a new place the same way they read a new person: carefully. At home, they already know where the good snuggle spot is and where the dog likes to nap. There's no unfamiliar backdrop to adjust to, so they relax faster, and relaxed kids give you the real expressions you'll want to keep.
Your home already tells your story.
The messy kitchen counter, the reading nook, the bed everyone piles into on Saturday mornings. These details feel ordinary now, but they're exactly what you'll want to remember in five, ten, twenty years. The height of the kids, the toys they carried everywhere, the way the light comes through the living room in the afternoon. Nobody is going to look back and wish the photos had been taken somewhere more generic.
It takes the stress out of the day.
No packing the diaper bag, no wrangling everyone into the car, no worrying about nap schedules or weather. You don't need to buy matching outfits or plan a perfect location. Wear something comfortable that you feel like yourself in, and we'll work with what you have.
It doesn't feel like a performance.
I don't do stiff poses and forced smiles. We play, cuddle, cook a snack, read a book, and I photograph what happens. If someone needs a break or a snack, we take one. Nothing is rushed.
What to expect.
I'll arrive probably chat for a few [too] many minutes, and scope out the best light in your home. Then we just go for it. Most sessions hopefully feel like a visit with a friend who happens to have a camera.
If you've been putting off family photos because it feels like too much to organize, this might be the version that finally feels doable. Reach out and let's find a time!
