EVERY CHAPTER OF PARENTHOOD DESERVES TO BE REMEMBERED.
Some sessions aren’t about choosing just one beautiful location, they’re about creating an evening that feels like an adventure.
When Blaize and Morgan envisioned their maternity photos, they wanted images that reflected some of their most favorite times together: outside, surrounded by Colorado’s beautiful mountains, moving from one breathtaking landscape to the next.
Rather than rushing through poses, we spent the day exploring some of Edward's most peaceful corners, allowing each location to tell a different part of their story.
Starting among the aspens...
There is something incredibly calming about beginning a session beneath the trees. The light filters softly through the leaves, the air feels cooler, and everything naturally slows down.
Walking side by side gave them space to settle into the session, laugh together, and simply enjoy being present before the camera disappeared into the background.
Those quiet in-between moments are often the ones that become favorites years later.
Then, a quiet stop by the river...
Next we made a stop along the Eagle River. The sound of the water, smooth river stones, and towering pines created one of the calmest parts of the session. It felt almost as though time slowed down. These moments weren’t about elaborate poses. They were about closeness (and certainly avoiding an accidental slip into the chilly water). About holding onto one another for just a little longer before life changes forever.
Ending the day above the mountains
As the sun began to lower, we made our way to one of Cordillera’s scenic overlooks.
The mood shifted completely. Instead of quiet intimacy beneath the trees, this part of the evening felt playful.
Romping in the grass. Wind moving through their hair. Stealing kisses. Laughing between photos.
It’s one of my favorite reminders that maternity sessions don’t have to feel overly serious—they can celebrate joy just as much as anticipation.
Planning your own maternity session
The best maternity sessions aren’t built around perfect poses. They’re built around experiences.
Whether that means hiking to an overlook, wandering through the aspens, or dipping your toes into a mountain river, my goal is always to create photographs that feel honest and timeless.
If you’re expecting and dreaming of a relaxed outdoor maternity session in Colorado, I’d love to help you plan something that feels true to you.
